Sceilg Mhichíl climate change vulnerability assessment report

In 2022 Sceilg Mhichíl was included in the ICOMOS-National Geographic & Manulife’s Preserving Legacies – A Future for our Past Project, the only site selected in Europe at the time. This Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment report forms part of the deliverables for the project.

This report summarises the process and results of a Climate Vulnerability Assessment of the Sceilg Mhichíl World Heritage Property. Carrig Conservation were engaged by the Office of Public Works and by the National Monuments Service to carry out this work. The intent was to conduct a bespoke assessment of the site based on the Adapt Northern Heritage and Climate Vulnerability Index methodologies to identify the risks posed by climate change to the World Heritage Property and its outstanding universal value and to discuss possible adaptation measures.

The report was launched in Kerry in November 2025 for the community that helped create it.
