Setting MMC Targets

The Government is committed to using its major housing investment to increase the use of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) faster and more efficient ways of building homes.

  • The National Development Plan includes €20 billion for new social and affordable housing.
  • The State will use its spending power to push for leaner, quicker, and more cost-effective building methods.

What’s Already Happening

  • €94 million was provided to local authorities to clear old land debts, with a condition to start building immediately using MMC.
  • The Accelerated Delivery Programme now includes MMC projects on 36 sites, delivering 1,500 new social homes across 13 local authorities.

New Targets

  • At least 25% of all new social and affordable homes will be built using MMC.
  • This means thousands of homes will be delivered faster and more efficiently over the lifetime of the plan.
  • It also creates big opportunities for the construction sector to invest in innovation.
