Transport Investment

  • Over the next 5 years, €2.97–€3.44 billion will be invested in transport projects to support housing in Ireland’s five cities.
  • Examples include:
    • Cork: Commuter rail upgrades to enable housing in Blackpool, Carrigtwohill, Mahon, City Quays, and Tivoli.
    • Dublin: Projects to support homes in Ballymun, Barnhill/Kellystown, Broombridge, Clonburris, Dunsink, and Lissenhall.
    • Galway: Redevelopment of Ceannt and Oranmore stations for about 2,000 homes.
    • Limerick: New Moyross station and Colbert redevelopment to support 6,500 homes plus student accommodation.
    • Waterford: Relocated Plunkett Station and new sustainable transport bridge to create a new city quarter on the North Quays.
