Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant

The VPRG gives financial support to people who want to refurbish a vacant or derelict property to live in or rent out.

• Since 2022, the grant has been hugely popular:
  • 15,000 applications received by September 2025
  • 11,000 approved
  • 3,700 paid out (after works are completed)
• The grant can be combined with the Local Authority Purchase and Renovation Loan to help first-time buyers or those starting fresh.
• Under the new plan, the grant will be expanded to include ‘above the shop’ spaces in towns and cities:
  • Up to €140,000 available for these projects
  • Includes €5,000 for expert advice
