Youth Homelessness – What We’re Doing

There is a National Youth Homelessness Strategy in place to help young people aged 18–24 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The Strategy was designed to put long-term solutions in place, but youth homelessness is still high. More action is needed.

Government Commitments:

  • We will continue to tackle youth homelessness and recognise that young adults need their own housing solutions.
  • A permanent sub-group of the National Homelessness Action Committee (NHAC) will be set up to:
    • Oversee key actions such as Supported Housing for Youth and the Shared Accommodation Scheme.
    • Identify new actions to respond to emerging trends.
  • The Homelessness Prevention Framework will also support these efforts.
