Who is running this survey?
The Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration’s vision is for Ireland to be safe, fair and inclusive. We have many different responsibilities, including:
- crime prevention
- national security
- justice
- immigration

The National Office for Community Safety, an office of the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, is carrying out this survey on behalf of the Department. The Office was set up in 2025 under the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act, 2024.

About this survey
Ireland’s first National Strategy for Improving Community Safety is being developed as part of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024.
The National Strategy for Improving Community Safety aims to respond to the needs and concerns of communities and help public services and communities work together in a joined-up way to make communities safer.
This survey is to support the public to provide their views on community safety to inform the development of the strategy. This survey is open to anyone living in the Republic of Ireland. It should take X to X minutes to complete.
Why should you complete this survey?
By completing this survey, we can learn what makes you feel safe or unsafe. This then helps when we are creating public policy about community safety.
Public policy is what our government, local authorities and other public bodies do about problems or issues that affect individuals, communities and the country as a whole.
The National Strategy for Improving Community Safety will be governmental policy. Because of this we want to hear from as many people as possible.
Will my answers be anonymous?
Yes, your answers are anonymous. This means we will not know who you are. Please do not include your personal information in your answers to make sure your identity is kept safe.
We will group answers together in a report. This will help to make sure we keep your responses anonymous.

This means we must release this information if asked by an individual or organisation.
