Celebration of cultures in the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration

As part of the Department’s contribution to Culture Night, a video of an event celebrating the diverse cultural inheritances of staff of the Department will be accessible at the following link from 4pm on Friday the 19th of September.

[link will be available from 4pm September 19th]

The event will include songs in Filipino, French, Scottish Gaelic, Irish, English, Latin and the Zulu language, some of which will be sung by a Departmental choir-group and the others by individual staff members, singing in their native language in some cases, and by a special guest singer.

The singers will be accompanied by staff musicians and a special guest musician, and will be playing instruments ranging from the uilleann pipes and the harp to the shruti box. The musicians will also play for the set dance which will be danced by five member of staff and a guest dancer as the finale of the event.

Some members of staff will give presentations on dissimilarities and similarities between their native culture and Irish culture. There will also be a short Power-point presentation, ‘From Home Affairs to Justice, Home Affairs and Migration’, on the name-changes of the Department.
