Governance and Accountability

Garda Division is responsible for the following matters:

1. The resourcing of the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC), the independent body which investigates complaints concerning the conduct of members of the Garda Síochána. See further information on GSOC.

2. Supporting the work of the Garda Síochána Inspectorate (GSI), which examines the use of resources provided to the Garda Síochána. See further information on the GSI.

3. Implementing and supporting reforms in the Garda Síochána.

4. Managing the department's role in the performance management framework of the Garda Síochána including the development of Policing Priorities Strategy Statements and Policing Plans for the Garda Síochána.

5. Monitoring the progress on cases taken against the Garda Síochána.
