Implementing and supporting reforms in the Garda Síochána

In accordance with a commitment in the Programme for Government to extend Freedom of Information legislation to all public bodies, the Garda Síochána has been included within the scope of the Freedom of Information Act 2014.

In recognition of the nature of the functions of the Garda Síochána, the Act applies only to administrative records relating to human resources, finance or procurement matters of the Garda Síochána. In addition, the Act provides for exclusions relating to security and legal matters.

The Freedom of Information Act 2014 applies to the Garda Síochána with effect from 14 October 2015.
