Minister of State Colm Brophy announces publication of the first annual report of the Special Rapporteur for Racism and Racial Equality, Dr Ebun Joseph

The Minister of State for Migration, Colm Brophy has announced the publication of the first annual report of the Special Rapporteur on Racism and Racial Equality, Dr Ebun Joseph.

The report contains a review of progress on 2024/25 actions and objectives of the National Action Plan Against Racism (NAPAR) 2023-2027 and makes recommendations to address challenges in implementation. The report also considers the findings of relevant reports of national and international bodies.

The Minister of State for Migration, Colm Brophy has welcomed the Special Rapporteur’s report, which marks the mid-way point of the implementation of the National Action Plan Against Racism 2023-2027 and notes it has been published at a timely moment to reaffirm our clear and unequivocal commitment to combatting racism in all its forms.

Minister of State Brophy said:

“I am pleased to announce the publication of Dr Ebun Joseph’s first annual report in her capacity as Special Rapporteur for Racial Equality and Racism. This first report of the Special Rapporteur marks the mid-way point of the National Action Plan Against Racism 2023-2027.

While much work is yet to be done, implementation of the National Action Plan Against Racism remains a key priority of this Government to ensure an inclusive Ireland for all. This report presents a clear opportunity for this Government to reaffirm our clear and unequivocal commitment to combatting racism in all its forms.”
