In order to provide suitable accommodation for people seeking international protection when it is available, the International Protection Accommodation Service may use the data provided by them for the purpose of assessing suitable accommodation and to provide auxiliary services as may be required. For your information, the GDPR policy in relation to data collection can be read below.
1. We may use the personal data you provide to the International Protection Accommodation Service for the purpose of assessing suitable accommodation for you and to provide auxiliary services to you as may be required.
2. Our legal basis for collecting and processing this data is as follows:
i. International Protection Act 2015, the Reception Conditions Directive, and Regulations made thereunder
ii. European Union (Dublin System) Regulations 2018
iii. European Communities (Eligibility for Protection) Regulations 2006
iv. European Union (Subsidiary Protection) Regulations 2013 as amended
v. European Union Dublin Regulation
vi. European Union Eurodac Regulation
vii. European Communities (Reception Conditions) Regulations 2018
3. The personal data provided will be stored securely. Data protection policies will be adhered to ensure appropriate data handling, access control and data retention.
4. Where it is necessary and proportionate to do so, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the GDPR, further personal data may be requested or received from/provided to other Public Authorities/competent authorities/international organisations Government offices/agencies including:
• The Department of Employment and Social Protection
· The Department of Children, Disability and Equality
• Tusla – the Child and Family Agency
• The Health Service Executive
· The International Organisation for Migration
• An Garda Síochána
It may also be shared with NGOs or bodies providing services to protection applicants, including those conducting vulnerability assessments.
5. Information may also be shared with our translation and interpretation service provider(s).
6. The personal data provided may also be shared with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in connection with their mandate to support the international protection process and the European Union Asylum Agency (EUAA).
7. External consultants will also have access to personal data on BedSpace for the purposes of maintaining and reporting on the system. In both cases a signed data processing agreement is in place for both organisations.

9. This data will be stored in accordance with specified the Department of Justice, Home affairs and Migration, International Protection Accommodation Service retention schedule and the requirements of the National Archives Act 1986.
10. You can request a copy of the personal data that we hold. You can do this by completing a Subject Access Request form, available at https://www.gov.ie/en/department-of-justice-home-affairs-and-migration/organisation-information/protecting-personal-data-in-the-department-of-justice/and forwarding it to subjectaccessrequests@justice.ie or by post to The Data Protection Officer at the address below. (You will be required to verify your identity before the data can be forwarded to you. The time limit for responding to a SAR commences once your identity has been verified.)
11. You have the right to rectify any inaccuracies in your data. To do this you should write to the International Protection Accommodation Service by emailing ipasinbox@justice.ie documenting the inaccuracies which need to be rectified.
12. You have the right, where appropriate, to obtain erasure of your data and/or a restriction on processing your data as well as the right to object to the processing of your data. In addition, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission.
