A National Office for Community Safety was established under the Policing Security and Community Safety Act 2024. The National Office is an office of the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration.The National Office has a number of functions under the Act including;

  • providing training, support and guidance to Local Community Safety Partnerships and monitoring the implementation of their local community safety plans
  • supporting public service bodies to collaborate with one another in the provision of services to improve community safety;
  • providing support to the National Community Safety Steering Group;
  • monitoring the implementation of the National Strategy;
  • commissioning research into and promoting awareness of issues affecting community safety, including administering the Community Safety Fund.
