Minister Stanton Launches New Royal Irish Academy Book

On Wednesday 6 June 2018, Minister Stanton launched Enfranchising Ireland? Identity, citizenship and state, a new book published by the Royal Irish Academy (RIA) and edited by Steven G. Ellis. The event took place in the premises of the RIA at Academy House, Dublin.
Enfranchising Ireland? explores the origin and evolution of the concepts of citizenship and identity in Ireland from a broadly historical perspective. In addition,the book considers the present difficulties surrounding Brexit, the refugee crisis and the related matters of migration and integration. The book includes contributions from: Ian d’Alton, Enda Delaney, Steven G. Ellis, Thomas Leahy, Mary Ann Lyons, Bryan McMahon, Niall Ó Dochartaigh, Catherine Steel, Ulrike M. Vieten, Nira Yuval-Davis.
This publication developed following a conference of the same name that took place at the Royal Irish Academy in October 2016, which was opened and addressed by Minister Stanton.
