The Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, Jack Chambers, today launched a public consultation on infrastructure delivery.
The consultation is inviting feedback from stakeholders, industry experts and the wider public on infrastructure delivery. This feedback is crucial to identifying the key barriers to delivery and ultimately improving outcomes. This public consultation will be open from 6 June and close on 4 July.
Minister Chambers said:
"I welcome today’s launch of the public consultation on infrastructure delivery. Ireland is growing and with that growth comes a demand for modern, efficient critical infrastructure across our water, energy, and transport networks. While infrastructure investment has increased, we still face challenges getting critical projects delivered. This consultation is about listening to those delivering infrastructure and those impacted by delays. We want to hear what’s working and what we can do better. The insights gathered in the consultation will directly inform the work of my department’s Infrastructure Division and the Accelerating Infrastructure Taskforce, which I established to identify high-impact reforms to speed up delivery. Whether you’re a public body, an elected representative, a contractor or a private citizen, your views matter. Infrastructure underpins housing, climate action, our economy and our quality of life – and we all have a stake in improving its delivery. This is a generational opportunity to improve how we deliver infrastructure, and I encourage everyone with a view to take part in this process and help shape a system that moves from ambition to delivery."
The paper accompanying the public consultation sets out the current infrastructure delivery landscape, the impact of our infrastructure deficit and the approach and objectives of the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation.
This builds on the establishment of the Accelerating Infrastructure Taskforce and the department’s Infrastructure Division, who have been charged with identifying barriers to infrastructure delivery and proposing a series of high-impact reforms to speed up delivery.
