OGP and Irish Coast Guard Win National Procurement Award

The Office of Government Procurement (OGP) and the Irish Coast Guard (IRCG) have been honoured with the Best Procurement Collaboration Project of the Year – Infrastructure & Public Services award at the 2025 National Procurement Awards for their joint delivery of Operational Dry Suit Systems for Irish Coast Guard Volunteers.

This achievement celebrates a volunteer-focused collaboration that has delivered advanced protective Operational Dry Suit Systems for those serving on the frontline of Ireland’s maritime Search and Rescue operations. The new system, now in use across the country, provides high-performance protection, comfort and durability, ensuring volunteers remain safe, warm and dry in all conditions, day and night.

Developed through a close partnership between the OGP’s Spot Buying Portfolio and the IRCG, the project combined procurement expertise, operational insight and volunteer feedback to deliver a bespoke, nationwide solution. It stands as a powerful example of how collaboration, innovation and public service can come together to protect those who protect us.

This recognition underscores the Government’s commitment to safety, innovation and collaboration in public procurement, ensuring that those who serve Ireland’s communities are equipped with the best possible resources. It also reflects the spirit of partnership between Departments and frontline services that underpins Ireland’s public service ethos.

Minister of State for Public Procurement, Digitalisation and eGovernment, Emer Higgins, praised the achievement, saying:

“This award highlights the professionalism and collaboration across our public service. The collaboration between the Office of Government Procurement and the Irish Coast Guard demonstrates how effective procurement can deliver meaningful outcomes, enhancing safety, sustainability and value for those serving on the front line.

Irish Coast Guard volunteers answer the call in all conditions, day and night, to keep others safe. This project ensures they are protected by equipment of the highest standard, developed through teamwork and innovation across Government. It is a fitting recognition of their dedication and service.”

Minister Seán Canney with responsibility for the Irish Coast Guard commented: “This award reflects the dedication and professionalism of the Irish Coast Guard and the Office of Government Procurement. By working together, we have delivered state-of-the-art protective equipment that ensures our volunteers can operate safely and effectively in all conditions. Their commitment to saving lives is unwavering, and it is our duty to provide them with the very best resources to support that mission.”
