Public Service Transformation Week 2025 - programme launched

The Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, Jack Chambers, and Minister of State for Public Procurement, Digitalisation and eGovernment, Emer Higgins have today (28 October 2025) launched the programme of events for Public Service Transformation Week 2025, which will take place from 10-14 November.

Transformation Week highlights the breath of innovation and transformation happening in our Public Service, under the Better Public Services strategy. Public Service Bodies taking part across Ireland showcase projects and initiatives which are delivering enhanced and more inclusive services for the Irish public.

The week is co-ordinated by the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation (DPER). This year an emphasis has been placed on ‘Transformation at Scale’; showcasing initiatives that are centred on scalability; promoting cross-collaboration; holistic and human centred, using data to inform transformation.

There will be a one day conference plus many other events this year focusing on the Better Public Service Strategy’s themes of Digital and Innovation at Scale; Workforce and Organisation of the Future; and Evidence-Informed Policies and Services designed for and with our Public.

Events taking part throughout the week include:

  • 10 November: The opening conference will focus on the Better Public Services strategy – DPER and local authorities including a demo of an Údarás na Gaeltachta - AI Chatbot
  • 10 November: Health Innovation in Practice – Department of Health
  • 11 November: AI as an accessibility partner – National Disability Authority
  • 12 November: Ireland Abroad: Transforming Our Global Presence – Department of Foreign Affairs
  • 13 November: Showcasing the Civil and Public Service Innovation and Excellence Awards - IPA
  • 14 November: An Introduction to Plain Language – Solas

Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, Jack Chambers said:

“Public Service Transformation Week puts a significant focus on fostering transformative thinking and collaboration across the Public Service, sharing knowledge, building innovative solutions through technology and exploring how we can consistently improve public services for the people of Ireland. Government is committed to investing in and delivering better public services for our people and I look forward to seeing that transformation in action demonstrated throughout the week.”

Minister of State for Public Procurement, Digitalisation and eGovernment, Emer Higgins said:

“All of the events in this year’s Public Service Transformation Week programme demonstrate how we can build services that are not only efficient but truly responsive to people’s needs. The three themes express a simple but powerful idea: reform, digitalisation and scale go hand in hand. We cannot deliver better outcomes without rethinking how we design, organise, and deliver to the public we serve.”

About Better Public Services

Better Public Services, is a transformation strategy to 2030 for the Public Service aimed at delivering for the public and building trust.

The vision set out in the Strategy is for inclusive, high quality and integrated Public Service provision that meets the needs, and improves the lives, of the people of Ireland. The Framework is a clear direction of reform for the Public Service to 2030. Making progress under these themes will support sectoral level reform programmes already underway in the Public Service.

The Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation leads the transformation agenda across the Irish Public and Civil Service to support excellence in public service delivery.
