The IGEES Spring Conference took place on 22nd April. There was a busy agenda with 13 presentations by 15 speakers across a range of policy areas and cross-cutting issues including: housing, health and social policy, transport, regional development, infrastructure, and building and communicating data for decision making. This showcased the interesting and important analytical work ongoing across departments and agencies.

Attendees heard from guest speaker, Thomas Conefrey from the Central Bank of Ireland, and an expert panel drawn from a range of departments, focusing on future labour market dynamics and associated policy implications.

Introductory remarks were delivered by the Head of IGEES, Dermot Coates, and the keynote address was delivered by Jack Chambers TD, Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation.

The Minister highlighted the work of IGEES in delivering key policy documents over recent months, such as the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, National Development Plan Review and the Accelerating Infrastructure Report. He also pointed to the importance of IGEES analysis to inform key trade-offs and choices, to support public service reform and modernisation, as well as enhancing the productive capacity of our economy and how we deliver public services.
