New chair of the Advisory Board of the National Shared Services Office

The Minister for Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform, Jack Chambers TD, has appointed Mr. Derek Moran, former Secretary General of the Department of Finance, to be the chair of the Advisory Board of the National Shared Services Office.
Mr. Derek Moran’s particular experience and strengths will be of especial value and utility at a time in the continuing development of the shared services agenda which the NSSO is tasked with delivering. These include the completion of the Financial Management Shared Services (FMSS) project which is intended to deliver a single, integrated and updated financial framework for the civil service.
Mr. Moran, as Secretary General of the Department of Finance for several years during the latter stages of the Financial Crisis (during whose early years he was the Assistant Secretary for Budget and tax policy) and throughout the Brexit negotiations, has proven capacity to deal with complex and demanding challenges. As former Secretary General of the Department of Finance, he will be familiar with many of the objectives and challenges of delivering shared services across the civil service. He has a deep experience and proven record regarding the general challenges of a largescale organisational, financial and management projects. The delivery of the FMSS project in particular will greatly benefit from the input of such an experienced and capable public servant.
