New initiatives for remote working announced

A suite of new initiatives to support Remote Working were announced recently by the Department

Among the new initiatives to assist and advantage remote workers are:

  • Phase 2 of the Connected Hubs Voucher Scheme, which will give remote workers free use of a hot desk at their local digital hub. During Phase One of the Scheme, over 3,300 vouchers were used– providing remote workers the opportunity to avail of the benefits of using a digital hub. Phase Two will run until 31 December 2022 and is aimed at any person registered via connectedhubs.ie
  • €1.1 million has been provided to local authorities through the Town and Village Renewal Scheme. Town and Village Renewal Scheme this year to support innovative marketing campaigns to attract remote workers to locations across rural Ireland.
  • Finally, the National Hub Summit took place in County Roscommon on 24 November, bringing together hub managers, representative bodies, state agencies and government departments to map out the future of the National Hub Network.

The number of Remote Working facilities on the Connected Hubs Network has now reached 300 (as of November 2022) . You can find your local hub at Connected Hubs and book the facilities you need at connectedhubs.ie

The National Connected Hubs network was launched in May 2021 and initially had some 60 hubs onboarded onto the connectedhubs.ie platform. This has grown substantially and 300 hubs are now live on the connectedhubs.ie platform with this number increasing on an ongoing basis.
