European Union and International Unit

The function of the Unit is to manage Ireland's European Union (EU) and International obligations in the field of social security, and to ensure that Ireland makes an effective contribution to the policy formation on social security and employment issues at EU and International level.
The Unit ensures that the minister and the department are fully informed of EU and International developments.
There is a dedicated Brexit Unit to oversee and co-ordinate Brexit issues across the entire department.
The Unit is also responsible for the development and implementation of social security policy for Ireland’s relationship with the:
- Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development
- International Social Security Association
- International Labour Organisation
- United Nations
