Minister Humphreys launches Intreo Work and Skills Events

  • annual Work and Skills events taking place from 15-26 April
  • 26 events nationwide focusing on careers and training
  • over 150 exhibitors participating
  • wide range of opportunities across many sectors

The Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys has today launched the Intreo Work and Skills events, which are taking place from 15-26 April across the country.

Over 26 events are taking place, with a huge range of opportunities across a range of sectors including construction, hospitality, healthcare, logistics, retail and many more.

The events are to provide jobseekers with an opportunity to connect with employers who are actively recruiting and to learn about the training options available to help them take the next step in their career.

Commenting on the events, Minister Heather Humphreys said:

“The Work and Skills events are an important support in bringing employers together with people who are actively seeking job opportunities across the country, as well as highlighting the range of training options currently available.

“Those visiting an event will have an opportunity to meet directly with employers and learn more about the roles on offer across many sectors.

“The Education and Training Boards will be on hand to provide information on apprenticeships and a wide variety of courses to those interested in pursuing further training and development options.”

Stephen O’Brien, Talent Acquisition Manager at Glanua recognises the value of their relationship with Intreo:

“As Glanua has experienced an exponential increase in work over the past 18 months we had a requirement to increase our staff numbers accordingly. We have worked with Intreo on a number of occasions during this time and have had great success at recruitment events organised by Intreo where we have recruited a number of key staff. We hope to continue this relationship in the future as Intreo develop new ideas and opportunities.”

The nationwide events commenced this week with a recruitment event in Ennis Intreo Centre, Co. Clare. The campaign also includes the National Construction Recruitment & Training Fair, which is taking place in City Hall, Cork this Thursday 18 April. Some 40 exhibitors will be at the Fair including Glanua Ltd, MMD Construction Cork, ESB Networks, and EPS Group, as well as representatives from the National Apprenticeship Office. Those in attendance will be recruiting for roles including General labourers, Carpentry & Joinery, Quantity Surveyor & Civil Engineering, Craft Apprenticeship, and Electrical & Plumbing opportunities.

Information on the full range of events and how to register to attend is available at gov.ie/WorkandSkills.
