The Climate Action Roadmap is a document to be produced by public bodies which communicates how each public body aims to meet the requirements of the Public Sector Climate Action Mandate and reach its 2030 carbon and energy efficiency targets.
The Department of Social Protection is committed to playing a leading role in Ireland’s transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient society. This Climate Action Roadmap outlines our strategic approach to meeting the requirements of the Public Sector Climate Action Mandate and achieving our 2030 targets for carbon reduction and energy efficiency.
The Mandate calls on all public sector bodies to demonstrate leadership across four key pillars: Our Targets, Our People, Our Way of Working, and Our Buildings and Vehicles.
Developed with the support and guidance of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), this roadmap provides:
- A clear analysis of our current performance baseline;
- A detailed view of our 2030 GHG reduction target and the remaining gap;
- An outline of current and planned actions designed to bridge that gap.
The themes and actions within this roadmap are informed by SEAI guidance and the national Climate Action Plan, ensuring our approach is both strategic and aligned with broader government objectives.
