PPSN Numbers used when forwarding examination results to QQA (formerly FETAC) to check correct names for certificates.
Included on registration sheets for dealing with displaced persons in an emergency situation and passed on to the Housing Dept. for organising emergency accommodation.
Housing
Processing of applications for social housing support.
For the calculation of Rents.
Succession of tenancy applications.
Tenancy transfer applications.
Validation of additions to household, new baby, other family member and so on, in order to verify or cross check individuals and or income of household.
By the RAS Unit for the purpose of checking addresses used for social welfare and to check if households were in receipt of rent allowance.

Payroll
Income Tax Office for recording of PAYE.
Housing
Exchange of information with the Dept. of Social Protection with reference to the Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005.
The PPSN is also exchanged by other Local Authorities seeking information about former tenants.
PPSNs are provided to Revenue as part of the LPT return, for example houses sold and houses leased.
Staff query PPS numbers with other Local Authorities for the purpose of sourcing information with regard to housing applications where there is an application with another county.
Does your organisation have any other plans involving the use of the PPS number?
None at present other than as required in future by Statute/department Policy.
