Appointment to the Court of Appeal

At its meeting today, the Government nominated Attorney General, Máire R. Whelan S.C., for appointment by the President to the Court of Appeal.
This vacancy arose following the retirement of the Hon. Justice Garrett Sheehan in March 2017.
The Government has taken the necessary steps to advise formally President Higgins of the nomination in accordance with constitutional procedure.
