Centenary of the Irish Civil War

As part of the programme of events for the Decade of Centenaries, a cultural event will take place at 3.30pm on Saturday, 17 September to reflect on the Centenary of the Civil War and to remember those whose lives were lost. The event will be broadcast live on RTÉ 1 and RTÉ News Channel.

This event will take place in the National Concert Hall, Dublin and will incorporate a variety of musical and spoken-word performances. This includes the National Symphony Orchestra and Cór na nÓg, and performers Louise Mulcahy, Tolü Makay, Darragh Morgan and Linda Buckley, Iarla O’Lionaird, and soprano Ailish Tynan; poetry by Moya Cannon and an academic address by Dr. John Borgonovo; and addresses by the President, Taoiseach and Tánaiste. Master of Ceremonies is Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.

The guests will be made up of a broad representation from across society, including culture, education, faiths, the voluntary sector, youth, community and other representative groups, local and central government and public representatives.
