Statement by Taoiseach Micheál Martin on the attack on UNIFIL peacekeepers

The attack on peacekeepers in Lebanon that left one French soldier dead and three others wounded is completely unacceptable.

The safety of UNIFIL soldiers carrying out their noble duties in pursuit of peace must be respected by all sides.

The targeting of peacekeepers is a serious violation of international law. It must stop.

All Irish troops are well and accounted for.
