Today, and for the next nine days, Ireland will see a team of 35 extraordinary athletes and ambassadors represent us on the world stage at the 17th Paralympic Games in Paris.
I was honoured to spend time with the athletes, coaches and staff of Team Ireland in Paris ahead of the formalities beginning.
They are ready, they are focused and their energy and spirit is infectious. In every Paralympian there is not only a world-class athlete but the hope and endurance of human spirit.
Ireland has had an extraordinary summer of sport and I can think of no better way to end it than by hanging out our best colours for Team Ireland.
To each and every one of our athletes, good luck. The country is incredibly proud of you and roaring you on.
