Ireland’s national day of creativity for young people takes place tomorrow (10 June 2023) with over 700 free events across the country.
Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media Catherine Martin is encouraging young people to participate in creative activities in their local area:
“Once again, this year offers a wide range of free creative activities to allow young people to engage, express themselves, try something new, and show us their enthusiasm and their skills. From coding to circus, there is literally something for everyone tomorrow, including a multi-sensory dance & music experience in Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown, lego coding workshops in Galway, Limerick and Clare, painting with organic materials in Moate, the Franzini Brothers in Fingal, making music with clay in Baltinglass, sensory soap making in Offaly, a Mummer’s Party in Leitrim, Uilleann Pipes taster workshops in Dublin, the Garageland open air festival in Athlone, the Carnival of Collective Joy in Carlow, giant leaf printing in Lismore, and Slime Labs in Sligo.”
With hundreds of free events, workshops, exhibitions and performances, and a special focus on starter workshops to encourage young people to try something new, Cruinniú na nÓg is an opportunity for children and young people to fulfil a creative ambition, or showcase their inner creative hero! The emphasis is on participation and inclusion with 19 events programmed for the young people of Ukraine, along with opportunities for neurodivergent children and young people to take part and enjoy.
Cruinniú na nÓg 2023 is programmed on an all-island basis with cross-community events connecting children and young people from both sides of the border, via our partners in Circus Explored and Rhyme Island.
Cruinniú na nÓg is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme’s Creative Youth Plan to enable the creative potential of every child and young person. It aims to celebrate and encourage children and young people’s participation in culture and creativity in activities such as art, music, coding, theatre workshops, performances, exhibitions, readings, film screenings and much more.
Cruinniú na nÓg takes place tomorrow, Saturday 10 June, and is supported by the Local Authorities and RTÉ. Full event details are available on the Creative Ireland website.

The Creative Ireland Programme is a five-year all-of-government, culture-based initiative, led by the Department of Tourism, Culture Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, that emphasises the importance of human creativity for individual, community and societal wellbeing.
Cruinniú na nÓg is an initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme supported by the Local Authorities and RTÉ. It is one of the key actions of Creative Youth – a plan to enable the creative potential of every child and young person. The first Cruinniú na nÓg, featuring over 500 free creative activities, took place on Saturday 23 June 2018.
