Grant of €245,000 approved for Comhairle Pobail agus Cheantair Bhaile Mhúirne for construction of an all-weather pitch

The Minister of State for the Gaeltacht, Patrick O’Donovan, announced today (8 December) that he has approved a grant of €245,010 or 80% of the cost to Comhairle Pobail agus Cheantair Bhaile Mhúirne, Co. Cork for the construction of an all-weather pitch.

This all-weather pitch will be situated in the Múscraí LPA on a greenfield site in the heart of Baile Bhuirne village. This funding will enable the committee to complete construction work and cover professional fees.

Speaking about the grant today, Minister of State O’Donovan said:

“This committee has been working on this initiative for some time; it is specifically mentioned in the language plan for the LPA and they have received strong support from schools, from sports associations and from the local community. I am sure that this pitch will be a valuable asset for people of the area of all ages and I am delighted to be able to support it with this grant. It is at this type of grant that the Community and Language Support Programme is targeted and applications to the programme from other Gaeltacht groups are welcome.”
