Music, the arts, exhibitions and wellbeing events continue to be made available to the public during this challenging period of lockdown. While people’s movements are restricted, a series of organisations are still remotely opening institutions and venues to give members of the public access to enjoyable, creative and informative events during these challenging times.
The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media is today sharing Online Cultural and Wellbeing resources in one easy to access location. These resources include live stream concerts, art demonstrations, exhibitions and home exercise videos and can be accessed here. The Department will update these on a weekly basis.
The Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin TD, said “While we are all asked to stay at home at this difficult time, there are many ways that we can connect with others and support our wellbeing. I want to ensure that the public, if their movements are restricted for health reasons, still have access to creative, healthy and fun resources that will not only support people during this period but are for all ages, individuals or groups, for families and in many cases are of no cost.
“I am delighted that my Department can help bring a wide variety of cultural and online resources that will help the public during these difficult times. I hope that they will provide a welcome distraction to everyone from our current daily stresses. Now, more than ever, we need to connect with others and support our wellbeing from home, whilst supporting our wonderful artists and those in the culture sector who are also struggling at this difficult. Our National Cultural Institutions and many of our bodies and agencies – though currently closed to visitors – continue to work hard to support people and their families during these challenging times.”
The notice of these events will be updated regularly by the department, including dates and venues, and will be shared across the Department’s social media platforms and available on our website here.
