Tourism Policy and Marketing Division

The main functions of the unit are to:

  • develop, monitor and review the overall policy framework for tourism marketing
  • ensure the tourism marketing budget is distributed correctly between the tourism agencies
  • coordinate the Department’s policy input in relation to North-South and East-West cooperation
  • carry out all corporate governance responsibilities in relation to Tourism Ireland
  • contribute to the development of policies across Government that may impact on tourism
  • monitor areas of policy and action that may significantly impact on tourism
  • track performance in the tourism sector
  • engage with the EU, OECD and other relevant international organisations with regards to international aspects of Irish tourism policy
  • create, implement and review national tourism policy and action plans
