The Shared Island Sports Club EV Charger Scheme has reached a major milestone with the establishment of a procurement framework to support the installation of electric vehicle (EV) chargers at sports clubs across the island of Ireland.
Following a comprehensive tendering process, ePower, Weev and EasyGo have now been selected to deliver fast EV charging solutions for both Ireland and Northern Ireland.
“This is an important step in making EV charging more accessible in community settings and supporting the transition to cleaner transport. It demonstrates how the Shared Island initiative is supporting practical, community-led climate action.
Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien
“This scheme brings real, practical benefits to communities across the island, while supporting our broader climate goals. By making EV charging available in everyday destinations like sports clubs, we’re helping to make EVs more viable and visible.”
Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien
“Sports clubs are the heart of our towns and villages, and by bringing EV charging to these spaces, we’re not only encouraging the switch to EVs, but we’re also investing in a more connected, greener island for everyone.”
Minister of State with responsibility for rural transport Jerry Buttimer
The establishment of this procurement framework allows local sports clubs across Ireland to work directly with approved Charge Point Operators to plan and install EV chargers at their facilities. The framework will make it easier for clubs to access trusted providers and ensure the installation of high-quality, consistent infrastructure across the island.
The Shared Island Sports Club EV Charger Scheme is funded through the government’s Shared Island Fund and administered by Pobal, working in partnership with ZEVI.
Further information on the delivery timelines and next steps for the eligible Sports Clubs will be announced in the coming weeks.
