Engineering Officer in the Irish Coast Guard

The Department of Transport are seeking to appoint an Engineering Officer in the Irish Coast Guard. This is an excellent opportunity to join a distinguished government department.

The Irish Coast Guard is one of the State’s Principal Emergency Services along with An Garda Síochána, the Fire Service and Ambulance Service and as the State’s fourth “blue light” emergency service, delivers Ireland’s obligations under international convention, EU Directive and Statute to provide maritime search and rescue, maritime casualty, and pollution response services.

The Engineering Officer is required to diagnose and maintain a broad range of radio and telecommunications equipment used in maritime communications, responder alert and notification, vessel tracking technologies and supporting infrastructure. Individuals with relevant expertise and experience are invited to apply for this role.

The successful candidate will be based in Malin, Co. Donegal, with responsibility for the Northwest region and with requirements to perform duties nationally. A candidate’s headquarters may be designated from time to time by the Head of the Department
