Vehicle Weights Summary Report

Currently taxation of vehicles is based on un-laden weight, rather than maximum plated GVW. The current taxation system will continue to be examined to see if there are improvements that could be made by altering the tax system.

The Department are considering the merits or otherwise of the European Modular Systems (Road Trains) and the possibility of carrying out trials on Ireland’s major inter-urban road network.
