Apply for a Road Transport Operator Licence

Using the below link, transport operators can apply for a Road Transport Operator Licence. A Road Transport Operator Licence is needed for bus operators who carry nine or more people in a vehicle that weighs more than 3.5 tonnes.

The Road Transport Operator Licence is only needed for bus operators where the transport of people who pay for the service is the commercial aim of the operator. A bus for a hotel to transport guests, or a GAA club to pick up children, for example, would not need a Road Transport Operator Licence.
