Eye on Nature: Photographic competition 2022 - Winner

After receiving thousands of entries, RTÉ Eye on Nature, Ireland’s wildlife nature photography competition in partnership with National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin and the Office of Public Works, has announced the strikingly beautiful image of a Red Squirrel (Iora rua, Sciurus vulgaris) by Jimmy Mc Donnell as the winner of RTÉ Eye on Nature wildlife photography competition.
The picture was captured in Newcastle, Co. Wicklow.
The 12 finalists' images are on display at the National Botanic Gardens for all to view. This exhibition of the finalist images is due to tour first to Dublin Castle on 6 June to coincide with the National Biodiversity Conference taking place on 8 and 9 June. As a special tribute, both the 2022 and the 2021 finalist photos will be on display outside the Printworks. From there, the exhibition will travel to Portumna Castle later in June and on to Athenry Castle.
