IWMG Commemorative Bridge project - February 2026 update

To whom it may concern,

Southside / Irish National War Memorial Gardens side. – The concrete works continued with the construction of the landscape base and wingwalls. The footpath along the riverbank on the southern side has been temporarily closed to facilitate the connection of the foul sewer diversion, this closure will be maintained until the piles and concrete works on Gridline 70 (closest abutment to the river) has been completed and backfilled. These piles shall be installed when the foul sewer pipeline has been diverted.

On the northern side, the concrete foundation at Gridline 20 has been constructed and works are continuing on the foundations for the 600t crawler crane that is required to install the bridge.

Upcoming works on the Northern side include the commencement of the roadworks on Chapelizod Road. This includes the construction of a new entrance, footpath modifications and a new pedestrian crossing.
