Flood Risk Maps
The OPW develops an extensive range of maps, hydrometric data resources and technical specifications and guidance notes that are available to assist our stakeholders and inform policy and planning.
Information and relevant links for Flood Hazard Maps and the Irish Coastal Protection Strategy Study (ICPSS) can be found at Flood and Erosion Mapping
Information and relevant links for real-time and archived water level data can be found at Hydrometric and Hydrological Data
OPWs national flood information portal, www.floodinfo.ie is providing location specific access to flood risk and flood management information, including the published Flood Plans along with the Flood Maps and the main Flood Relief Schemes underway or completed under the OPW flood relief capital works programme.
The OPW has prepared a number of technical specifications and guidance notes that it makes use of when commissioning work, such as the design of flood relief schemes and the preparation of flood maps. These may be applied as relevant by other authorities where there is an intention to work with the OPW - Technical Specifications and Guidance Notes

Hydrometric and Hydrological Data
www.waterlevel.ie contains real time water level data recorded at hydrometric gauging stations operated by the OPW. The OPW presently operates surface water gauging stations at over 380 river, lake and tidal locations nationwide and water level data from the majority of these stations are now available in real time.
Flood Event Data Collection
Past Flood Events
The website floodinfo.ie contains information on recorded flood events in Ireland. You can search for recorded floods by location, either by using a map or by searching for a town or townland, grid reference or river. An advanced search tool allows you to refine your search by date and quality of information. You can use "Layer Control" to add additional data e.g. the land drained by OPW Drainage Schemes carried out under the Arterial Drainage Acts, 1945 and 1995, Drainage Districts carried out under previous acts (1844, 1863, 1925, 1928 etc.), land protected by embankments that were divided by the Land Commission, rivers, lakes and the location of hydrometric gauges.
