Celebrate the beauty of nature during National Tree Week 3-10 March

National Tree Week is an annual event organised by the Tree Council of Ireland in partnership with Coillte. It is the largest tree celebration in the country, providing a unique opportunity for people to come together and celebrate the beauty and importance of Ireland's trees!

This year, the event's theme Planting Trees for a Greener Future aims to emphasise the importance of trees and forests in helping to mitigate climate change and promote biodiversity.

  • Annual National Tree Week Lecture - "Trees"

Matthew Jebb will talk about some of the earliest, oldest, largest and rarest of trees on our planet. One of the more amazing discoveries about trees in recent years is that we now estimate there are 73,000 species of tree of which 9,000 species are yet to be described scientifically. This highlights the strange fact that the commonness of rarity and the rarity of commonness are two of the most remarkable facts we have learnt about trees.
