Protected Disclosures Policy

The Protected Disclosures Act 2014 (the Act), as amended by the Protected Disclosures (Amendment) Act 2022, became law on 15 July 2014.

The Act provides the process for workers to raise concerns about workplace wrongdoing, such as fraud, theft or danger and requires public bodies to act appropriately in response.

Under the Act, public bodies are required to have internal procedures for making and receiving a protected disclosure.

The Office of Public Works internal procedures are outlined in the Protected Disclosures Policy.

A worker who wishes to make a written disclosure should use the OPWPD01-1 form.

Recipient contact details are available as Appendix 1 of the Policy.

The OPW is committed to training staff on how to process, assess and, where relevant, investigate whistleblowing reports in addition to legal responsibilities arising from such disclosures.
