Minister O'Donovan meets Dutch Deputy Ambassador Yaron Oppenheimer

The Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Mr Patrick O’Donovan TD, met today in Dublin with the Dutch Deputy Ambassador, Mr Yaron Oppenheimer. Building on previous collaboration between the Irish and Dutch governments, such as the peer review of Irish flood risk management led by Dutch experts and the ongoing information exchange between Dutch and Irish officials and experts through various projects, meetings and conferences, the Minister and Deputy Head of Mission discussed a range of issues of mutual interest in the field of flood risk management. The conversation focused on the need to enhance community resilience as a critical response to climate change as part of climate adaptation, community engagement, the ongoing importance in both countries of flood protection measures, balancing societal safety and environmental objectives.
