Press release

Reopening of Sceilg Mhichíl postponed due to adverse weather conditions

Poor weather and sea conditions today, Friday 1 July, made it impossible for OPW Guide Staff to travel to Sceilg Mhichíl ahead of the planned reopening on Saturday. As poor sea conditions are forecast for tomorrow, Saturday 2 July, as well, the reopening of Sceilg Mhichíl to visitors is postponed until Monday, 4 July.

Sea conditions are expected to improve sufficiently on Sunday 3 July, to allow OPW Guide Staff to travel safely to Sceilg Mhichíl. On arrival, they will immediately begin their preparations to welcome visitors back to the island on Monday.
