On 23 November 2021, the Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe published the Terms of Reference for a Retail Banking Review. The full Terms of Reference for the Review can be found below. The Review will involve extensive consultation with stakeholders, and will include a consumer survey and public consultation, details of which can be found below.
The Review will be conducted by the Department of Finance, with the assistance of other relevant government agencies and departments, and report to Minister Donohoe in November 2022.
As part of this review, Behaviour and Attitudes (B&A) conducted a survey of consumers on behalf of the Department of Finance to ascertain their experience and perceptions of the banking sector in Ireland earlier this year. The results have been presented to the Department of Finance and can be accessed below.
The Retail Banking Review Dialogue was held on 16 May, during which Minister Donohoe launched a public consultation seeking stakeholder views on the Retail Banking Review. The consultation document and a link to the review portal can be found below.
The public consultation was launched on 16 May 2022 at the Retail Banking Review Dialogue and will run until 8 July 2022.
