The Social Welfare Appeals Office is an independent agency established to provide an appeals service to persons who are unhappy with decisions of the Department of Social Protection on questions with regard to entitlement to social welfare payments and insurability of employment under the Social Welfare Acts.
The Office is headed by a Chief Appeals Officer and has its own Appeals Officers.

The Office is situated on D'Olier Street on the South side of O'Connell Bridge.
D'Olier Street is serviced by the following Dublin Bus routes: 7B, 7D, 9, 13, 14, 14C, 16, 25X, 32X, 33X, 39, 39A, 40, 41X, 44, 46A, 51D, 51X, 61, 66X, 67X, 83, 83A, 118, 123, 140, 142 and 145.

D'Olier Street is serviced by Dublin Area Rapid Transport (DART) and Suburban Rail services to Tara Street Station.
After exiting from Tara Street Station turn left on Burgh Quay. On reaching D'Olier Street turn left. The Social Welfare Appeals Office is about a third of the way down this street on the left hand side.
