Public Transport consists of:
The Division's role is to ensure effective and cost efficient delivery of the National Development Plan for public transport and to develop and update the policy framework for ongoing investment in public transport having regard to available resources, overall transport policy objectives and government policy.
The Division provides analysis and advice on public transport policy, including PSO and Local Link funding administered by the National Transport Authority (NTA) and accessible public transport.
The Division has Corporate Governance responsibility for CIÉ and its bus and rail companies, the NTA, and the Commission for Railway Regulation (CRR).
The Division is responsible for policy and legislation on economic regulation of bus, rail and taxi services, regulation of rail safety and the policy framework for the Rural Transport Programme.
