Irish Aid Global Citizenship Education Grants now open for applications

Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora, Sean Fleming, today launched the Irish Aid Global Citizenship Education (GCE) grant application process for 2024.
Global Citizenship Education is a lifelong educational process to increase understanding of the rapidly changing, inter-dependent and unequal world in which we live. Irish Aid provides grants of between €10,000 and €180,000 to groups working on GCE. Groups eligible for funding include schools, third level institutes, youth organisations and NGOs.
The Irish Aid Global Citizenship Education grant scheme includes the Innovation Challenge Fund, which supports initiatives designed to reach new audiences, or which pioneer fresh approaches to Global Citizenship Education, including the use of new technologies.
Minster Fleming is urging all Irish organisations working on Global Citizenship Education to apply for funding.
Minister Fleming said:
“These grants support people all over Ireland to learn more about the world in which we live and the actions they can take to help create a better world.
"Learning about the challenges facing our world is a lifelong process, one that should begin at early years and primary school education. I encourage groups interested in this work, or who want to try something new to promote global citizenship, to apply for support.”
A total of 33 organisations across Ireland were funded under the scheme in the course of 2023, including support to 13 organisations under the Innovation Challenge Fund.
The call for proposals for the grant process opens today and the closing date for receipt of eligibility forms is 15 December 2023.
