The CervicalCheck Steering Committee was first established by the Minister for Health in June 2018. The Committee provides oversight and assurance on the implementation of key decisions taken by Government in relation to CervicalCheck. A significant body of work has been completed and overseen by the original Committee as set out in its terms of reference. This Committee last met in February 2020 and ceased meeting from then as the COVID-19 response became the priority focus of the department and the HSE.

The Minister appointed Professor Anne Scott, Vice-President for Equality and Diversity at NUI, Galway in October 2020 as Chairperson of the Committee to steer the next phase of the work. Membership of the Committee is drawn from key stakeholders including patient advocates, Clinical Bodies, Department of Health, Health Service Executive and Clinical representative Organisations. Terms of Reference were agreed by the Committee in February 2021.
