Thresholds

The EU Commission periodically set the thresholds above which the EU Public Procurement Directives and the Remedies direct apply.

Above these thresholds each contracting authority needs to ensure that they are carrying on compliant procurements as regulated by the Public Procurement Directives and awarding contracts in such a way as unsuccessful applicants or tenders can seek remedies during standstill periods as set out by the Remedies Directive.

National Thresholds are set out in 2.1 and 2.2 of Circular 05/2023 - Initiatives to assist SMEs in Public Procurement

‘2.1 The threshold at which contracting authorities are required to advertise all contracts for goods and services on eTenders is now €50,000 (exclusive of VAT) and upwards on www.etenders.gov.ie. '

'2.2 Contracts for works with an estimated value equal or greater than €200,000 (exclusive of VAT) should be advertised as part of a formal tendering process on eTenders’.
