General Scheme of Local Government (Directly Elected Mayor with Executive Functions in Limerick City & County) Bill 2021

This is the General Scheme of a Bill, as approved for publication by the government, providing for:

• the establishment and election of a directly elected mayor with executive functions in Limerick
• the holding of plebiscites on directly elected mayors in other local authority areas

The government has also approved the drafting of the Local Government (Directly Elected Mayor with Executive Functions in Limerick City and County) Bill 2021 based on the General Scheme.
