Any resident may apply to the International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS) in writing to ipasinbox@equality.gov.ie to transfer to another IPAS Accommodation Centre. Due to the limited amount of accommodation available and demand for particular locations, it will not be possible to facilitate all requests. Therefore, IPAS have to prioritise some transfer requests and refuse others.
Currently IPAS prioritise transfers requests to reunify applicants who have family members who are also International Protection applicants, living in separate centres. This may be due to a family member arriving in the country and/or making an application for International Protection at a later date. Both family members must contact IPAS separately to request that they be accommodated together.
If there are medical reasons as to why they wish to move to another location, those grounds will be taken into account by IPAS when considering a transfer application. All transfers are subject to any restrictions in place, as part of the IPAS response to COVID-19.
